01/02/2014 1st Month DONE…..Good & Bad

Yey the first month of project 365 is done!! Very proud  of myself, and only missed the day I crashed my moped. I thought that at times I might struggle to get a photo of the day but haven’t found it a problem….yet! However Project 52 has not been so successful 😦 I only managed 2 weekend projects. I have been feeling a bit unmotivated since I came off my bike and I’m still suffering with a few injuries, worst of all my broken wrist is till in plaster. Sooo frustrating!! Lots of being stuck in the house home alone, I really want to get out and about with my camera but I cant walk properly yet or drive anywhere. The indoor projects I’ve done so far have been great, but in my head the whole point of the project 52 was to improve my skills to use in real life photography ie shooting people, landscapes etc.  People have asked me if I’ll do a photo shoot for their kids, some shots for a web site, gig pictures for a band and I’ve agreed to do a casual wedding too, so I really do want to hone in some skills and get my confidence up. I’m going to try and make sure that any weekend shooting I do will be useful to the practical side of photography.

23/01/2014 Watermarks

A friend of mine who is a designer, suggested I should watermark my images when I post them on the web to stop people stealing them and claiming them as their own. She said it was really easy to do in Photoshop, but then she would say that being a designer. I did a bit of research and watched a few online tutorials then had a go. my first issue was deciding what to actually put in the watermark, my name? the name of a company I hope to have? After much deliberation and many many attempts I came up with this, not very impressive I know but decided to keep it simple and I think it does the job.

18/01/2014 Minor Disaster

I drive around most places on my moped but earlier this week I crashed it! Nothing too serious, I’ll fix but I am pretty much house bound, which means project 365 & 52 will be coming from the view point of my sofa for a while….it’s either going to be very interesting or very boring

10/01/2014 Print It Frame It Hang it

Just decided that at the end of each month I’m gonna choose a shot from that months project 52 results and Print It, Frame It & Hang It! This is something I hardly ever do because I always worry what other people will say about my work. But NO MORE! I’m going to listen to the comments, take them on bored, learn from what people say and enjoy having my pictures on the wall!

06/01/2014  Change Of Plan

So yesterday I did the first of my project 52 challenges. I was quite impressed with the outcome, not really what I had planned though. I had this single rose that I had been given after I completed the marathon in October last year, needless to say that by now it was totally dead and very dried out, but rather artistic looking. I had planned on trying to get some dramatic black & white close up shots…..but when I looked at the back of my camera I wasn’t very impressed.  I decided to stick with the rose but not quite so close up. I still wanted to go B&W but shot in colour, and changed to B&W in Photoshop (I have elements 10). I’m not particularly great with Photoshop and tend to play around with it a bit. I found that when l toggled the levels I could totally black out the back ground giving my shots a cool kind of floating affect! Again  not really what I had planned, but I really liked it and stuck with it 🙂
